Do I have to build the armature myself?
No. The Skinny Bones and Bare Bones armatures come pre-built and ready to use, except for the hands. The hands are included in the box, but left separate in case you want to do anything fancy like coat them in silicone before attaching them to your armature. We do include a handy guide to easily installing your hands, but you can do it however you like.
How do I replace an arm or leg?
We strongly recommend you invest in a pair of narrow-headed pliers - these are available in shops like Wilkinson’s for about £2-£5, and also online.

-
With your pliers, hold the nut at the back and use the allen key provided to remove the screw.
-
Take off the broken arm/leg, and fit the screw from the old limb into the new one*.
-
Fix the new arm/leg to the armature - hold the nut with the pliers, and tighten the screw with the allen key.
-
Sometimes it’s easier to do it the other way round - hold the screw steady with the allen key, and use the pliers to tighten the nut.
-
Make sure it’s fixed tightly so the joint doesn’t rotate when animating.
*To reduce waste, we ask that you re-use the original screws for your new parts. However, if your original screws are nearing the ends of their lives, just let us know at the checkout and we’ll provide new ones for each arm/leg you purchase.
What can I do if my armature breaks?
For obvious reasons, we cannot accept returns or replacements on items which have broken wire, as this will eventually happen during animation and is not a fault. If your armature has broken due to wear and tear, you are welcome to purchase replacement arms and legs - or a new armature if necessary - in the shop.

However, if your armature develops an issue which seems to be due to a manufacturing fault, please do get in touch and send a few photos to skinnybonespuppets@gmail.com and we will do everything we can to help you.
